From November 15 to 22, 2025, Da Nang will become the epicenter of Asian cinema. The Asian Film Festival (ADFF) will be held in Vietnam for the first time, bringing together directors, actors, and film critics from 20 countries in the region. The festival will present over 100 films, ranging from auteur films to experimental projects using AI and VR technologies.
Program and participants
The competition program included films from Japan , South Korea , India , Vietnam , and other countries. Key premieres included:
- "Shadows of the Mangrove Forests" (Vietnam) - A drama about the lives of fishermen in the Mekong Delta, filmed using underwater drones.
- "Sakura Code" (Japan) - A futuristic thriller about the clash of tradition and artificial intelligence.
- Debut works young directors from Cambodia and Laos, filmed with the support of the UNESCO fund.
The jury will be headed by Vietnamese director Tran Anh Hung (The Scent of Green Papaya), and the guest of honor will be South Korean actor Lee Byung-hun.
Features of the festival
- Open-air cinema: Sessions at My Khe Beach and Dragon Bridge with simultaneous translation into 5 languages.
- AI-laboratory: Workshops on creating films using neural networks and generative art.
- Retrospective of the classics: Screening restored versions of Asian cinema masterpieces, including Summer Snow (Hong Kong, 1995) and The Crying Game (Vietnam, 2003).

Objectives of the festival
ADFF aims to be a bridge between traditional and digital cinema, supporting young talent and introducing the world to the diversity of Asian cultures. The festival will close with an auction of NFT film posters to benefit educational programs for filmmakers in the region.
