New Long Thanh Airport: How Vietnam's Megaproject Will Open Doors to Authentic Adventures and Cultural Exchange

The Vietnamese government has announced the launch of an ambitious $10 billion project: the construction of Long Thanh International Airport in the suburbs of Ho Chi Minh City . This move will not only strengthen the country's position as a key transportation hub in Southeast Asia but also open up new opportunities for travelers, expats, and locals seeking a deeper cultural immersion in the region.

More flights - more experiences
The new airport, located 50 km from central Ho Chi Minh City, will handle up to 52 million passengers a year, four times the capacity of the current hub. Tan Son Nhat. In 2026 year Long Thanh will become an "air gateway". The giant airport will be able to handle 25 million passengers a year in the first phase, scheduled to open in 2026.

Why is this important to the community?
As Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung noted, the project will become “the most important link in the region’s communications system.” For our multilingual portal, this means one thing: even more chances to unite people of different cultures. As passenger traffic grows, Ho Chi Minh City will attract new enthusiastic guides, expats willing to share their routes, and locals who will show the city through the prism of everyday magic — from dawn markets to night jam sessions in back alleys.

A chain of experiences: from the plane to an adventure. With the opening of Long Thanh, travel planning will become easier, and our portal will help turn every day in Vietnam into an action-packed quest.

What's next?
The construction of the first phase of the airport has already begun in 2024. While the infrastructure is being prepared for the influx of guests, we invite everyone who is in love with Vietnam to join our community: sharing hidden locations, organizing cross-cultural encounters and turning ordinary trips into stories that the world will want to tell.
