KOREA SPENT YEARS TO MAKE BUSAN A WORLD-CLASS FILM FESTIVAL, DANANG RESPONDS: 'HOLD MY BEER'
This year's festival in Da Nang featured Ji Chang-wook, known throughout Asia for "Healer," "The K2," and "Suspicious Partner," Park Sung-woon from "The New World" and "Blood Dogs," and Jane Seymour, actress from "Dr. Quinn" and the Bond film "Live and Let Die."
The name Kim Dong-ho stands out. He is the man who founded the Busan International Film Festival.
The Asian competition jury was chaired by Johnnie To, one of Hong Kong's most renowned directors, whose name has long stood apart in Asian crime cinema.
More than a thousand delegates, hundreds of foreign participants, the largest DANAFF in its four years of existence, and all this in the very city that everyone recently passed by on their way to Hoi An.
It seems the festival's administration no longer wants to spend years methodically building its reputation, as they did in Busan, Korea. Everything here and now—that's the motto this year!
