Am Phu Cave (Động Âm Phủ) is one of Da Nang's most unusual caves, located at the foot of Thuy Son Mountain in the famous Marble Mountains complex . Unlike the caves located higher up the mountain, Am Phu is located almost at ground level and is characterized by a particularly dark, enclosed atmosphere. The Da Nang tourism portal highlights it as one of the complex's top attractions.

The name Am Phu translates as "Underworld" or "Hell Kingdom." The cave's interior is associated with Buddhist concepts of the afterlife, karma, and good and evil. Inside, visitors navigate winding sections of the cave, where natural rock formations blend with sculptures and scenes illustrating the concept of punishment for evil and reward for good deeds.

The cave gradually becomes darker as you progress, and then the route leads to sections where you can climb closer to a natural light source. It's this contrast between the near-total darkness inside and the bright daylight that makes a visit to Am Phu Cave particularly memorable.

Am Phu Cave is more than just a natural attraction. It's a place where nature, Buddhist philosophy, and local legends come together in a single tour . Therefore, the cave is of interest not only to those who enjoy unusual natural sites but also to travelers who want to better understand the spiritual culture of Central Vietnam.

Am Phu Cave is located near other famous sites in the Marble Mountains, making it a convenient destination for a trip to Marble Mountains, Linh Ung Pagoda, Tam Thai Pagoda, and other caves in the complex . The complex itself is located approximately 8 km southeast of central Da Nang.

A visit to the cave itself typically takes about 30–45 minutes , although the duration depends on your pace and the number of stops. Since the route includes stairs and uneven rocky areas, comfortable shoes will be significantly more comfortable than regular sandals.

According to current information on Da Nang's tourism portal, entrance to Am Phu Cave is separate from the Thuy Son Mountain ticket. Adults are 20,000 VND , students are 7,000 VND , and children under 6 are free.

As of 2026, the cave is listed as open daily from approximately 07:00 AM to 17:00 PM ; it is best to double-check the schedule before visiting, as opening hours of tourist attractions are subject to change.

What is especially interesting to see: the unusual stone walls and vaults of the cave, Buddhist sculptures, thematic scenes, narrow passages and the contrast between the dark inner sections and the illuminated upper parts of the route.
